Wheelchair Battery Replacement

Wheelchair Battery Replacement

A power chair with a weak or dead battery should not have to make a trip to a shop. MobileBattery comes to your home or care facility to identify, supply and install compatible replacement batteries.

Enter your Canadian postal code or its first three characters.

Keep the chair in place. We’ll bring the batteries.

When range drops or a charge no longer lasts, moving a heavy power chair to a shop can add another problem to your day. Tell us your chair’s make and model, what has changed, and where it is. We’ll check the battery specification and availability, then arrange an on-site visit with the right set.

Service where the chair is

We visit homes, apartments, retirement residences and care facilities where access is permitted.

Fit checked first

Voltage alone is not enough. We check the chair’s specifications, battery size, capacity, chemistry and terminal layout.

Responsible removal

After installation, we take the old batteries for proper recycling.

Three clear steps from first contact to installation

1

Tell us about the chair

Share the make, model and any battery label you can safely see. Tell us whether the chair will not start, has less range, or is not charging as expected. A photo can help, but you do not need to lift the seat to ask for service.

2

We confirm the fit and visit

We check the required battery type and availability, then arrange a visit. Mention entry codes, elevator access, parking, or a facility contact when booking.

3

We install and check

A technician accesses the compartment, installs the matched batteries, secures the connections and checks that the chair powers on. We remove the old set for recycling. Follow the chair maker’s charging instructions before a full day of use.

The right pair matters more than a familiar label

Many power wheelchairs use two 12 V deep-cycle batteries connected in series for a 24 V system. Your chair’s manual decides the actual specification. A battery that looks similar can still have the wrong dimensions, terminal position, capacity, or chemistry for the chair and charger.

  • We confirm the chair make and model and the existing battery details.
  • We match voltage, physical size, amp-hour capacity, terminals and the manufacturer’s approved chemistry.
  • Where a chair uses a pair, we follow its requirements for two matching batteries rather than mixing an old and a new one.

AGM and gel are both sealed lead-acid battery types. They are not automatically interchangeable; charger settings and the chair manufacturer’s instructions matter.

A few details make the visit easier

You do not need to know the battery part number. The chair’s identification label, manual, or a clear photo of an accessible battery label can help us confirm compatibility.

Possible charger issue? Tell us if the charger shows an error, the charging light behaves differently, or the chair lost power suddenly. A new battery set may not resolve a charger, wiring or control fault.

  • Chair details: make, model and serial number if available.
  • Symptoms: shorter range, weak acceleration, failure to start, or trouble charging.
  • Battery information: a label photo only if it is easy and safe to reach.
  • Location: postal code and any building or care-facility access instructions.
  • Contact: the person who can meet the technician or approve the work.

Answers before you arrange a visit

How can I tell whether my wheelchair batteries need replacing?

Reduced range, slower performance and a charge that does not last as it used to can point to tired batteries. Similar symptoms can come from the charger or another chair fault. Tell us what has changed so we can discuss the right next step.

Do you replace both batteries?

Many power chairs use a matched pair. When your chair calls for two batteries, we follow the manufacturer’s replacement guidance and confirm the correct set before installation. Mixing a new battery with an old one can affect performance.

Do I need to remove the batteries before the visit?

No. Leave the chair as it is. Share the make and model and any information you can see without lifting a heavy seat or opening a difficult compartment.

Can you come to an apartment or care facility?

Yes, where building or facility access is permitted. Please provide any visitor rules, parking instructions, elevator details or staff contact when arranging service.

Are AGM and gel batteries interchangeable?

No. They are both sealed lead-acid types, but the chair and charger may specify one chemistry or charging profile. We check the manufacturer’s requirements before selecting a replacement.

Can I get same-day wheelchair battery replacement?

Call to check the earliest available visit for your address. Timing depends on technician availability and whether the correct batteries are in stock.
